Carrie Underwood recently revealed the methods she uses to keep slim and sexy:
When I gain weight, it’s in the spare-tire area. I’ve told trainers abs are a physical impossibility for me. And every single time, they’re like, ‘Well, we’ll get you abs!’ So do I have them? No! But they’re as flat as they’re probably going to get. Push-ups work out everything. If you do them right, you’ll feel it in your abs. I do four sets of 10 to 20.
Good tip. Pushups do work the abs. But the secret of abs is not just more pushups and situps and other ab work.
Good ab development is important. But you may have fairly well developed abdominal muscles that are hidden by high levels of body fat.
So the real solution? Overall slimming combined with a reasonable ab routine.
Everybody has things they want to look nice for: anniversary, birthday, reunion. I’ll think to myself, Oh, that award show is coming up. Or, I have a photo shoot in four days! It’s nice to set goals.
Setting goals is important. Why? Because if you don’t clearly identify your goals, how will you ever reach them?
It’s good to have both long-term and short-term goals. You should know your ideal body weight and body fat percentage, and you should aim for those as your long-term goal.
But set some intermediate goals for yourself as well. Your goal could be losing the first five pounds, or losing an inch on the waist. Something that makes lets you know you are making progress. You need to give yourself cause to celebrate along the way.
I love it when I feel good about myself. I’ll look at a photo and think, My arms look great!–and then I go work out my arms. Once you’re enjoying things about your body, you realize how much you want to keep them that way or make them better.
Do you make a point of identifying your best points? Or do you tend to be critical of yourself?
We can sometimes be our own worst enemies. It sometimes happens that others in our lives have been critical in the past, and then it is easy to fall into this trap yourself.
Well, if that’s you, you can change. Find something good about yourself. If you can’t find anything you are not looking hard enough. It’s there.
What’s your best body part? Nice legs? Cheek bones? Sexy feet? Smooth skin? Shiny hair? There’s something you can feel good about and be proud of.
Take good care of yourself, and appreciate the good parts while you are working on the parts that need a little more work.
And by the way, do you know what area bodybuilders work on most? They find their weakest area and they work on that.
And then what happens? After they work on it, it’s no longer their weakest area. And then they move on to the next part. That may be something for you to try.
